The series drive system was the first step away from resistor coils into the new controller-powered solid-state systems we know and love. It allowed for the inefficient bank of rings to get eliminated for a power-conserving controller-driven setup. One of the big players in this system is the E-Z-GO Forward and Reverse Switch Assembly. This unit is a copper-contacted switch that is wired directly to the motor. When you crank the knob, you flop the polarity, allowing the caddie to run in the opposite direction. There is nothing else on the buggy that has to change to make this happen. The solenoid and controller and everything else, for that matter, run the same way in forward or reverse.
This is a copper-contacted golf cart switch assembly, so overtime, shifting, and heat will naturally wear it out. All you need to do is clean it up with some sandpaper from time to time, and when it gets too bad, call Buggies Unlimited and have us send out a replacement.

Yes this should work for 1988. I have a 1982 marathon and it worked, but I had to wire it for a 1988 v.s. my 1982 electric 36 volt.
Not correct for 1987 and prior without handle modification/purchase, as early switches the handle screws on to a tapped hole in switch shaft. I had to use it as a donor part to repair my 86 Marathon electric unit.
I have not been able to make my switch work. Due to other pressing problems I have not been able to troubleshoot the problem. Sorry I can not answer the question.
prior to 86 all I carry that is compatible s the 776 contact board.
i was lucky mine was still connected but i did find a diagram on google looked up ezgo wireing digram for forward reverse switch and found it there good luck
Check the voltage at the key switch. It should read 36 volts. Also check all the cables making sure they are tight and not corroded. Make sure that you have a good ground. I do not think that the 5.7 is the problem.
No this will not work for a 2015 RXV
I’ve only used it for 36v. Not sure how a 48v is wired.
