Cart Subtotal:
When the forward and reverse switch goes wonky on your EZGO, it can make the golf cart do many funny things. For example, climbing hills will be impossible; multiple passengers are a no-go. Even getting started from a stop can be a challenge. One of the most entertaining complaints customers have before switching to the E-Z-GO High-Output F&R Switch is having to Flinstone the golf cart to get it started. Buggies Unlimited feels your pain.
Have you ever felt like the entire team was relying on you, and if you failed, the whole system would fall apart? Well, that's what happens when the E-Z-GO High-Output F&R Switch fails. Not only will it take down all functions of your golf cart once it fails, but it can also damage other, more expensive components like the controller or motor. It can also damage cheaper parts like the solenoid and cables. All around, this switch going bad is the start and least of your worries if left unchecked.
This is a big issue for slow moving, heavy golf cars. The slower you go, the lower the voltage is and when voltage is low the amps are high. High amps equal high heat. I would recommend a contactor kit. We can replace that forward and reverse switch with a heavy duty solenoid and switch from a lever style to a push button. part # 5091.
Sorry I can’t help you. I sprayed the old switch with WD-40 and it started working so the new switch is still in the box.
Alan is right, for these applications the voltage is not a concern
I have always used a little WD-40 on the f&r switch, work on a great. I wouldn't loosen the nut on the shaft it will loosen contact pressure on the main contacts and possibly cause premature damage.
Yes, used it on a 2000 TXT no problem
It allows for higher voltage flow.
Yes. This part would definitely keep your cart from running. You may have to loosen the mounting bolts at the bottom and slide it left or right, while switching forward and reverse. Once you have consistent operation in both directions, tighten the bolts down and you’re done!!
Carts with a tow/run switch will “change direction” through internal connections within the speed controller itself. This item is for carts WITHOUT a tow/run switch, such as an EZ-GO TXT Series cart.
No Way--these switches are for 36-48V total electrical applications only. This product mechanically switches the direction of the electrical drive motor for forward and reverse travel Your power source would be an internal combustion engine vs battery and electric motor.
Item# 5081 would be our kit.
