Product Details

The golf cart Solenoid Resistor fits select Club Car, Columbia, Harley Davidson, and EZGO models. This is a very crucial statement as they are golf carts out there that do not use them. Not that they can run without them, more along the lines of if you install a resistor on a golf cart that does not call for one. You could melt your controller and be out close to five hundred dollars as well as put yourself and your passengers in the line of an actual fire.

The solenoid resistor is for carts with speed controllers, but just because it has a controller does not mean it needs one. Would you mind checking your manual before ordering? Just because there was one on your solenoid does not mean it was supposed to be there. Someone before you may have been trying to fix the same problem you are and made it bigger. This was the same golf cart resistor used on 1988-2005 Club Car DS electric models. Call Buggies Unlimited today and get one ordered.

what damage can occur when running cart without solenoid resistor or diode?
What should this resistor's ohms be?

This is a 250 ohm resistor. So if you read it with your meter, you should see and where from 245-255.

Will the cart run without a solenoid resistor? The resistor is hot with the cart not moving or doing anything. Is that normal?

It will however it sounds like you may have welded or partially welded solenoid

Will this work for the pds ezgo setup?, ordering a new solenoid

This will work on any ezgo that is 1989 and up.

I’m looking to re-wire my anchor/navigation lite switch in my boat. It was wired with a “Y” in line resister wire that needs to be replaced because of over heating. I have no clue what size, amp?,ohm??? It’s a 12V system with a 5 pole switch.

This is not something I am versed with. We use the resistors as a pre-charge for the controller and to extend the life of the solenoids.

Is this required on a 1999 Club Car DS 36V with v-glide? The cart did not have the resistor across the main solenoid posts when I replaced the solenoid, but did have the diode between the smaller signal posts. Some of the schematics show the resistor, some don't.
