Try bypassing the RPM limiter, this is a black box on the front side of the motor. Just unbolt the brown wire from the frame and tape it up.
If its a 3 wire regulator it will work.
Yes it should but I can't say for sure without seeing the one you have. If the one you are buying looks identical to the one on your cart then you should be fine. My cart was a 79 so it didn't fit mine cause the the wiring was different. But they changed the wiring in 1980 so that part should be correct for yours. Sorry I can't be of more help
Yes, they are adjustable. Are you having an overcharging issue? I suggest you either top up and fully charge your battery or replace the suspect one. After replacing the voltage regulator check the output at the battery. As long as you have over 14 volts at idle I would leave the inside of the regulator alone.
Hi John, I suggest giving our tech team a call to ensure we get you the right voltage regulator for your Harley. Give us a call toll free at 1-888-444-9994
it sounds like the voltage regulator is the problem . the one i bought from buggies unlimited was supposed to be the correct one , however it was faulty right out of the box . i ended up at a kart shop and after going through everything they replaced my new voltage regulator with the correct one and everything has been fine since .
