Product Details

The Club Car Precedent Steering Box Assembly is a complicated little device. We are here to help you understand how it works. Unlike older steering boxes that were single throw, this is a double throw. What that means is instead of having just one drag link coming out of one side of the steering box, it's got tie rod ends coming out of both sides. This handy little feature eliminates the long tire rod needed to run from the passenger side to the driver side, connecting the spindles. This is just one less part to get bent or damaged when your golf cart gets in a precarious spot. Tie rods get taken out by stumps and all kinds of ground objects. Not a worry anymore, thanks to this setup.

This golf cart steering box is a rack and pinion style setup, and it fits the 2004 and newer Precedent models. Unfortunately, there is no way to convert the older models to the newer style steering without a long travel lift kit. Call Buggies Unlimited today.

Never steer you wrong
My machine is a 2005 with some wear and tear on it but still has lots of life left in it. The steering box bolted right up, great fit and functions beautifully. Steering is tight and stable.

what is the overall length from rod end to rod end?

Already installed - can’t measure. Same size as the original equipment.

steering feels normal and then tight  when  turning either side. Steering Box problem??
we just changed king pins, bushings(arm, spring leaf, shocks) tie rods.
Does right threaded tie rod end fit 2011 precedent?

This would fit the 2011 Precedent.

I installed the new gear box on a 2006 club car president, now when I turn to the left the tire on the driver side turns 3/4 away around, but turning to the right everything is normal. It’s like the gearbox arm on the driver side comes out way more the the other side.?

You may need to adjust the tie rods. Take something straight like a 2 by 4 or broom handles put from the front tires to the rear to make sure you have the toe adjusted correct. Basically you’re doing a front in alignment. Hopefully that makes sense but the front wheels need to be straight with the back wheels also on the cart.

Is there some way to grease or tighten up the steering gear box?

No. If there is play in it you have to replace it.

Does this fit on a Onward cart?

Yes The chassis are the same as the Precedent

I am looking for the gear box for my employers club car. The numbers on the gear box are 88300096 and I do not see them on any of the gear box listed on the web site? Thank you!

I want to install rack and pinion steering assembly on my 1951 HJ with fiberglass body (about 1200-1500 lbs total weight).  It has about 12-13" in-between a-arm pivots and steering arms point to the rear of the spindle(rear steer). Is there a assembly that I could use for this project? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
