The Club Car DS Governor Cable is like a good guidance counselor in school. This may seem like a stretch, but they are more closely related than you might think. In fact, the unit connects the governor on the rear end to the carburetor. Just like your counselor in school helped you make the right decisions on the classes you needed to take to better your future, this golf cart part only allows a specific amount of gas to make it to the carb. This fuel regulation helps prevent catastrophic flooding. Unfortunately, it can also cause the exact opposite problem and make things lean. This causes an overheating situation. All of which you can avoid by getting this replaced as soon as possible.
You may be thinking, what is the point of this Club Car cable? Why not just have one line that runs from the pedal right to the carburetor. Well, over time, this cable and the accelerator will stretch out. This causes the range of the throttle to get reduced. Now your caddie that did 20 miles per hour struggles to get 10. The golf cart governor is spring-loaded and adjustable to prevent this condition as long as possible. Plain and simple, the two cable system allows these cables to last longer.
This DS cable is not hard to install. One end hooks to the carb, which you will easily access by lifting the seat. The governor is a bit trickier, but all you need to do to get at it is remove the rear access panel. There is no need to lift the cart and put it on jack stands as this can all be done from the top end.
