Cart Subtotal:
If there were one part out there that can cause myriad different issues, ignition coils would be that part. Your golf cart might be running but not too well; it could repeatedly be backfiring or losing all its power on inclines. All of these symptoms point toward your E-Z-GO 4-cycle Ignition Coil. Please do yourself a favor, pick one of them up today, and get your cart back to 100-percent.
When your E-Z-GO 4-cycle Ignition Coil is working correctly, it will produce a brilliant white or blue spark. This flame should continually spark as long as the pedal is depressed. If the color is red, yellow, or orange, the spark is not hot enough to ignite the cylinder's fuel. If this is the case, give Buggies Unlimited a call and get an aftermarket coil today. The same goes for the consistency of the spark. If it comes and goes and does not continually spark as you hold the pedal down, time for a new aftermarket coil.
Hello Mr. Teran! Pull the plug out of the head of the motor, put the spark plug cap back on it, but do not screw the plug back into the head. Grab an insulated screw driver and hold it real close to the end of the spark plug and hit the gas pedal. It should produce a blue or white, very consistent spark. If the spark is red or yellow, you should replace the coil. Repeat for both spark plugs. Typically one will spark good and the other will be weak so the car runs weak. If that's the case, replace the coil.
Could be one of 3 things. This, the ignitor, or the pulsar. (of course, a broken wire could be the culprit as well)
Coils generate the high level voltage necessary to get a good hot spark. When they go bad, typically you will get a weak spark but it will still come thru, but maybe not on both cylinders. When an ignitor goes bad, the spark it good and hot but is inconsistent or all you will get is one quick spark. Hope this helps.
Sorry I don’t have the answer
Hi William, please call our technical support department and we can help troubleshoot your cart issue. 1-888-444-9994, then choose option 3.
take a screwdriver insert into coil output wire.Put screw driver near a metal part of the engine, turn over the starter. The spark should be bluish. if it is orangeish and looks weak replace coil.
Could be a number of things. Sorry but I need to ask a question. Are you eye witnessing a Spark with a tester or with the spark plug out of the cylinder or you just listening to the sound of the engine to determine sparking? Could be Solenoid or coil or spark plug boot/wires. I have included a blog from another source where another type of starting problem is discussed.

I would definitely check the valve adjustment and the compression far as that goes... I have one a few others I keep up... The coils are know to go bad (even a known good'n)... Check the spark with a spark checker... If it pops the checker its not ignition plain and simple if it does not I would install a coil for a quick check... I use a GM coil like in the pix with a resistor... Its a common coil and can get the number if need B ( I have a stash of used ones)
Spark checker get one... Go no go gauge no guessing  Don't be a fool are get fooled get one....

Try the connectors to the coil from the wires. Not the spark plugs but the other wires. I changed so much stuff. Come to to find out that the connectors were to loose
I had the same exact problem. I bought a new ignition coil and still had no fire. I ended up changing the ignitor out. It’s a little black box with wires coming out. After that I had fire to the plugs.
Hi Robert, yes this should work with the Robins engine.
