Product Details

We all have that influential person who we lost too soon. It may have been a parent, or maybe it was an aunt or uncle. Even if it was just a friend or colleague close to your age, there is that one person for everyone that we wish we could have back. That is often the case for golf cart parts, especially the EZGO HD Starter Generator for 2-Cycles. It gave all kinds of signs when it was giving up the ghost that got ignored. Now that it is gone, you are faced with replacing it. Thankfully we have one that will not break the bank. Hearing the click of your golf cart solenoid to have nothing else run will break your heart.

This EZGO starter is not a hard part to install. We would recommend having someone there to help, even if it's just to hold things in place while you tighten them up. Give the experts at Buggies Unlimited a call today for questions about the golf cart replacement starter.

Things to keep in mind when installing this starter on a 1990 ezgo
I had received 3 new starter/generators that were missing insulators at the very same connector. The 4th one was a winner. I had to open up the holes for the large retaining bolt as the holes were undersized. No problem as I expected this from other posts. The terminals were reversed from the original so wiring had to be changed to make correct connections, otherwise, in forward direction the new starter was going in reverse. No real problem. F1 connector was now up instead of underneath. No problem on my 1990 EZGO. This starter works great.

Worked great. Only complaint is one of the lugs for the wires was in a different location but easy fix just had to make my wire longer.

It works, but . . .
I have a 1990 ezgo Marathon. The replacement starter has a few differences. The F1 and F2 (sides of the starter) are opposite of my old starter. The end of the starter marked A1 and A2 are opposite of my old starter. The green wire that goes to the voltage regulator is now on the top of the generator. I pulled the wiring schematic and wired it exactly as labeled on the starter and schematic. Tada, the new starter runs in reverse of the old one. Last but not least, the 3/4” pivot bolt holes on the bottom of the starter are undersized. Twenty minutes with a dremel tool and sanding drum, I opened up the mounting holes and got the bolt to go thru both sides. Other than that, the new starter generator solved my problems.

this starter generator work on a 1976 HD even so the date say 1978?

If you have a starter/generator system on your buggy now it will work, however the distance between the mounting bracket centers may need to be adjusted to ensure the alignment of the starter/generator with the pulley on your particular motor. The stater / generator is nothing more than an electric starter when energized in the "spin" mode and then becomes an electric current producer when driven by the carts motor. This unit can be used in multiple applications with mounting adjustments. If you could send pictures of how yours is set up I could better make an assessment of the level of difficulty in mounting it you may encounter. I hope this has helped.
