Cart Subtotal:
All converters are reducers, but not all reducers are converters. That is a mouthful, but it's a fundamental distinction. The difference is determined by how they reduce the voltage to a usable range for aftermarket accessories. The Reliance 36V/48V-12V Voltage Reducer/Converter takes the golf cart's total pack voltage and reduces it down to around 12 to 13 volts. This way, each battery is affected minimally, and the golf cart's overall runtime is not hampered.
Minimal reducers only use two to three batteries and drop the overall voltage through a diode reduction process. This method generates a lot of heat. You know, as well as we do, heat is the worst enemy of electrical items, including golf carts. Things get warm and start to melt and then stop working. Whatever you can do to prevent that from happening is imperative. It also draws down the partial pack quicker than the rest, un-equalizing your charge and killing the batteries' lives. Make sure you avoid all the hassle by getting an aftermarket Reliance 36V/48V-12V Voltage Reducer/Converter from Buggies Unlimited.
Thank you for your question! You can absolutely tuck this into the frame of the golf car. It is very compact. The dimensions of this converter are 7 inches long by 4 inches wide.
Check you tube that is out of my pay grade....sorry
sorry for the delay, had a total computer meltdown---yes its waterproof--I have a fan,and led lights hooked up as 12 volt on my 48 volt system. not a major problem to install enjoy
I don’t feel that you would need multiple. I have a lot plugged into mine. It gets a little hard getting a good connection with multiple wires.
YES, I HAD THE SAME THOUGHT, BUT FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS TO INSTALL. THE PRODUCT HAS PERFORMED GREAT, INCLUDING ADDING A CONVERTER TO 120 VOLTS TO OPERATE A BLOW UP AND CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON THE CART FOR THE CHRISTMAS PARADE
It depends on how many amps you will be using. The Reliance voltage reducer is good for up to 30 amps. Need to know how many amps the heat blanket uses and how many amps the current 12 volt system is rated for? If your already using most of the amps the current 12 volt system is rated for, then you need the Reliance voltage reduced.
You are limited to 30amps draw power. Add up how much draw each accessories will pull and you have your answer.
The window of operation for this converter is 36 volts thru 48volts. 42 volts come in this window. When you apply voltage to the primary side(42) check the output voltage (12) volts to make sure.
You must hook all your accessories to the box and then they will come on when you turn the key on
I not sure what you mean by convert 48 volt batteries to 12 volt batteries. This part will reduce your 48 volts down to 12 volts.
