Product Details

It would be hard to decide which pulley was doing more work on your golf cart. The front or primary is the one that is attached to your engine. It has two belts going around it. The starter and drive belt, the latter of the two, also loops around your Club Car Gas Driven Clutch. This is also known as the secondary. It is attached to the differential and supplies the power to the rear end of the cart. If you notice that the torque is slipping, that is a sign the clutch is on its way out. Anything like jumping from a stop to climbing hills will be challenging when this unit goes bad. Getting it replaced at the first sign of a problem will save you a mountain of frustration.

This golf cart clutch is comprised of two sheaves and a heavy-duty spring that sits in a cup. As the belt is pulled into the clutch, the sheaves are separated by it. The stiffer the spring is, the harder it is to do. This allows for a good amount of low-end torque. Call Buggies Unlimited today for your Club Car replacement part.

New secondary clutch
Ordered a drive clutch for my 1992 club car. Part came when guaranteed by mail. Clutch was already a one piece assembled part. Removal of old clutch was bit of a chore but plenty of wd-40 helped loosen the outer bolt. Old clutch came right off. New clutch arrived as I was practicing putting on old one. Coming fully assembled the clutch was very easy to put back on and the club cart was up and running in about 15 minutes after receiving the new part from buggies unlimited. I am very impressed with the new part and how fast I received the new clutch.

What horsepower rating is this good for?
What is the diameter of this pulley?

I don’t know for sure. I put it on and all worked well. I assume it is standard equipment size.

How did you get it off, Removed the bolt And have a puller on it, plus used liquid wrench. Also heated end of shaft with small propane torch. Is there something else holding it on?

The only thing holding it on is the bolt. The splines are rusted up just keep spraying penetrating on it let it sit for couple hours then use a dead blow hammer and hit right in middle where the bolt goes sometimes they can be stubborn

what is the size shaft that this clutch fits I ordered the other clutch that is available and the id of the hub on it is 7/8 and I need a clutch that receives a 1.5 in crankshaft... what size crankshaft dose this clutch accept?

Matt this clutch was for the rear not the engine and the golf cart is loaded in the trailer with the race car I will have to unload all to get and will if you need info for the rear shaft let me know Kevin

I want one that has the high torque spring in it is this possible?

I believe this is a stock unit Enter an answer to this question.

whats the diff in the color springs????????

Hi Bobby, Nathan is correct, sometimes this indicates whether or not the spring is a high-torque spring or if its stock. In this case, it is stock.

Will it feet a 1999 club cart ?

This will not fit a 1999 club car.

Is this clutch adjustable to accept a 1.4" wide belt?

it does not fit that belt and not adjustable other than for engaging with spring pressure
