Product Details

You can only go with your motor and controller so far before you are in the woods with your differential. There are only so many RPMs that things will allow for, and then you are topped out. For those who want to unlock the top end, a Club Car DS Electric High-Speed Gear Set is the way to go. This will move you into a range that is more suited for speed and less for torque. So as long as you aren't trying to lead a double life with this golf cart, get ready to hold on because 25 miles per hour is not unheard of with this kit.

We would highly recommend that this only be used on buggies that mainly see the pavement and maybe some light trails. If you are an off-roader, you want to be headed in the other direction for torque. This golf cart high-speed gear kit is all about acceleration. You are looking at a massive upgrade at eight to one compared to the stock twelve to one ratio. Call Buggies Unlimited and get a set ordered today.

Is the 8:1 gears faster or slower 6:1 ?
How long do you think this would take to install, and anything besides garage standard hand tools that would be needed?

Gears are not for the novice. This is a job you can do in your garage with a basic set of tools and a jack, but with all the tear down and rebuild that comes with the territory, a seasoned tech is looking at half a day.

I have a 1999 48v DS, with a lift. It seems to have decent low end torque but not alot of upper end torque. Runs around 14-16 mph on flat ground, and our typical use is running around the neighborhood, mostly flat ground. Do you think this would be a good upgrade to get a little more top end speed before adding controllers/motors etc?

This would get you the speed you are looking for but it would eliminate your low end torque all together. This is an upgrade we recommend along with a motor and controller upgrade to compensate for the loss in torque.

How much can I increase the speed on an electric 2006 club car and about what does it cost for you to do it?
Thank you

The sky is the limit! We can swap gears, motors, controller, increase voltage. All kinds of good stuff. LEts put it this way. We have a Club car in our facility that will do 0-60 in 4 seconds flat... fully electric.

How fast will this make my 2003 Club Car DS 36 volt run it does 14 now?

Spike this is a great question. without getting into specifics about your cart you could expect it to be anywhere in the 18-19 mph range. now if your cart is lifted or you live in a hilly area you will notice some torque lost but you will definitely notice the speed increase

Will this make both forward and reverse faster? Or just forward?
I have a 2002 club car 48 v with a 5.5 hp 5200 RPM electric motor. It has tremendous low end torque and about 25mph top end. I live on a 36hole golf course and its about 21/2 miles from the north course to the south and the paved road is through the woods. Common speeds on the road are about 40 mph. I do not mind sacrificing some torque for speed. any idea as to what this could do for my top end?
