There are parts out there that every golf cart manufacturer seems to have used at some point or another. We know this because of the cross-reference charts that show you how many different caddies a specific part will work for. Take, for example, the Starter Generator Brushes. These can be used on any golf cart that uses a particular type of starter generator. You are talking Cub Car, EZGO, Yamaha, Harley Davidson, Columbia, and many models between those big players. The starters may not look identical or even spin in the proper direction. Still, the brushes will be equivalent to what we send you. There are for the Hitachi brand starters; if you have an advanced DC brand, these are not going to fit.
Golf cart parts like these are ones that you want to check at least once a year. They are incredibly high wear and will wear thin rather quickly with the regular operation of the buggy. If you had to replace a battery recently, take a look at these bad boys, chances are you are going to need to call Buggies Unlimited for a replacement.
Not sure about the 1978 E-Z go-But I did install them on a 1997 Yamaha G-16..Fairly easy job to do Once we had the Starter/Generator Off-Cleaned up the insides with an air Compressor and Everything worked Great afterwards,,
Most common would be the voltage regulator, next would be the field coils in the starter generator.
They are located under rectangular rubber caps. Pop them out ,remove the screws ,lift up the spring ,pull out. Replace the same way.
Is the pulley on your generator for your cart
If you bought it online the pulley is usually for a Yamaha If you have a Clubcar you need a new pulley
