Cart Subtotal:
The E-Z-GO 36-Volt Solenoid is the gatekeeper of voltage for your golf cart. This relay is the main switch that allows all the voltage at the entire amperage level to pass to your controller or resistor system, depending on the year of the golf cart. For the sake of argument, we are going to assume you have the newer model.
There is a whole system of activation switches that work in conjunction to make this solenoid click. You have to turn the key switch to the on position and press the pedal to activate the accelerator microswitch. The golf cart must be in forwarding gear. There is also a reed switch. Basically, a fuse your charger has to be unplugged from for the golf cart solenoid to be able to do its job. If all of these things do not line up, the solenoid will not click. So just because you do not hear it come in does not mean it's bad. Give the experts here at Buggies Unlimited a call to make sure.
Check voltage across large lugs. should get 36 volt to a ground when accelerator is depressed. If it does the solenoid is good.Problem is elsewhere.Try www.cartaholics for more help.Great site.

Hi Michael, yes this does work on any 36-volt EZGO.
Ours would click and not move. Replaced this and works perfectly now

If its 36v it will!
It should be under the black cover along side the batteries.. If your cart has a run/tow switch, that switch is located on that cover I am speaking of. It will have 4 screws to take out to remove the cover, there you will find the solenoid and the controller.
Mine had the same issue but the new solenoid fixed the issue. I had already replaced the controller but that did not fix it so I then replaced the solenoid .
I had issues of my cart stopping intermittently. I would go into reverse a bit then it would be able to go forward...sometimes. I thought it might be the forward reverse switches. I changed those but no luck. I did change the solenoid and it ran great after that. I had been losing power, stopping etc. for a while. This took care of my problem. It MAY fix yours. Make sure you get the correct one. There are two different solenoids.
Could be the solenoid or the acelator micro switch is stuck closed.
