Cart Subtotal:
When you are talking about the vital components, the E-Z-GO RXV Fuel Pump ranks very near to the top. This is maybe third in line behind the engine and the carb as far as gas-powered items go. You could live without a fuel tank; it would not be easy, but you could do it. Without a way to draw that fuel and pump it up toward the carb, you would be trying to spoon-feed it while driving. Not an ideal situation. This golf cart pump takes all of the human interaction out of getting the gas where it needs to be. This is not an old boat. You should not have to pump a ball to prime the system. We are glad those days are long gone.
Identifying if your vehicle has a failing fuel pump can be tricky sometimes. First, you need to see if you can determine if the caddie is having more trouble at high speeds or low speeds. Do you struggle to get moving, but the coach runs fine once you get to the top end of your throttle? Then the E-Z-GO fuel pump is more than likely to blame. If it is the other way around, we may be looking at a dirty carburetor. We would hate for you to buy a product that you do not need. Unfortunately, sometimes you can get away with giving another component a bath.
This is not a difficult E-Z-GO RXV part to install. You could do it by yourself in an hour or less. You do not need to jack up the cart or anything, but you will be working with fuel, and the fumes can get to you. We always recommend doing this outside or in a well-ventilated area and having a buddy there just in case. If you have any questions, please call us at Buggies Unlimited today.
Could be. Could also be your carb or possibly a problem with the ignition system. Fuel, Fire and Compression are the 3 amigos of a proper running engine. Verify fuel supply to the carb by removing the line at the carb that comes from the fuel pump. Point the line into an empty container and hit the gas pedal. You should get a pulsing fuel supply. If you do, clean the carb. Then we want to verify that the spark is good and hot. Remove the plug, check for fouling (good sign of weak spark). Put the cap back on the plug but do not put the plug back in the engine, just lay it up on the head and hit the pedal. The spark should be blue or white. if its red or yellow it could be a coil issue. Finally the compression is supposed to be 145-190. Somewhere in that range.
This would work on the 2012 shuttle 6.
