OEM replacement items are often just as functional, if not more than the stock versions that replace them. However, we can guarantee you that most of the time, they will look worlds apart. The slight or significant differences can make swapping item for item confusing. Spade connectors get swapped for eyelets, and drilling holes seems like a requirement. Well, with this aftermarket replacement, Buggies Unlimited has solved all of those problems by making the Club Car DS & Precedent 48-Volt Solenoid an almost exact match!
The best way to figure out how to install something on your DS or Precedent is to take a picture of the original before it's uninstalled. Even though this aftermarket replacement relay from Albright looks the same, it can still be a challenge. Wait till you get the new part before taking anything off your golf cart. Preparation ensures a speedy install. Even if that means leaving it be until you have the parts you need to get it done.
Google how to check the solenoid and go through the check for it to see if it was bad. I had the same problem and the MCOR was my problem, but when I googled the problem, It suggested testing the solenoid first.
It sounds like it. Does it click when you step on the pedal? If not the Solenoid is generally the issue.
After many hours of troubleshooting it was only the f/r switch.
Google the problem you are having and you will find videos to show how to test for different things. I tested mine and didn't find an issue with the solenoid but put one in anyway because it was cheap. I is a control that is under the cart. I took mine to a cart repair shop and got them to fix it. About $400 dollars. You probably can do it yourself, but I was tired of fooling with is and didn't want to crawl around on the ground to get under the cart.
One possibility is a failing MCOR (motor controller output regulator) which sends the pedal movement signal to the solenoid.
Could be the accelerator switch or the Solenoid.
To save time and money go to a club car shop that will put it on a diagnose machine it will tell you what to fix
Check the wire connection to the FNR switch. With frequent switching sometimes the wire breaks right there. I have rewired mine many times.
Hi dom b,
I found my solenoid on the passenger side on the firewall facing the electric motor. There is an access door to it on the back side of the golf cart just below the back of the seat held with about six screws. Make sure you disconnect the power before disconnecting the solenoid cables. Look on the internet for directions on “how to replace the solenoid on a 48 volt club car. golf cart.
My 2003 Club Car DS was having similar problems and it turned out the controller going bad.
