Product Details

The golf cart clutches are responsible for different jobs. The primary up on the engine gets the coach moving and determines the top speed. The Club Car 4-Cycle gas Driven Clutch located on the rear axle handles all of the low-end power. It has a very stiff spring that is designed to keep the sheaves closed as long as possible. The longer they stay closed as the caddie accelerates, the more power you will have to climb hills and pull heavy loads. Depending on the performance you need, there are settings within the part itself to increase or decrease the tension on the Club Car sheaves. This refers to the position of the tines on the spring. The more the sheaves have to spin to line up, the more load you put on the clutch. More load on your spring equals more power out of the coach.

This golf cart clutch is an elementary part to install. There is one hold-down bolt to remove, and then it should slide right off. We can't remember the last time it was that easy, but you are not in for a challenging job. Just have your rubber mallet handy to give it some encouragement. Get one from Buggies Unlimited today.

Just what the mechanic order
Needed a replacement part for a club car in El Valle, Panama. Using the pictures from the website, I was able to show him exactly what I was ordering and verified that was the correct part. EASY!
Fast delivery and I was able to carry it on to flight to Rep. of Panama. JOB DONE! Perfect fit.

Good
Only giving it a 3-Star because I’ve only put 2 hours on it. Outside of that, easy install, fantastic price! If it holds up, then this will be the clutch that goes into my entire fleet.

What is the shaft size?, I need 7/8"

Fits a 2001 club car

does this have 19 splines?

yes it's identical to the factory one i took off . replacing it made a great impact on performance , runs like new faster take off and better pulling power

Does this increase speed over stock assembly?

it will if it has the stronger springs , also using the driven clutch with the modified springs or you can get a spring kit and change them out , it keeps the bell from opening as quick

does the rotation direction make a difference? I have a 2011 Clug car Turf2 that I am installing a Honda gx630 on. Was thinking I could use original style drive and driven clutch but reverse would be forward and forward would be reverse. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with this. But my intuition is that the direction of engine rotation would matter. The centrifugal acceleration on the clutch would be in the opposite direction so might not engage the clutch properly. If it worked, i'd be a bit surprised, but it might. Also, the gearbox might object to being run in the opposite rotation, as the gears and lubrication are probably designed to rotate in a certain direction. But I have no real knowledge of what I'm talking about here, just intuition.

On a ‘97 club car, what makes the drive belt slip?

Belt could be wet or the clutch itself needs to be replaced it’s lost it’s ability to grip the belt properly weak springs etc

what is the difference between this driven clutch and the one for 88 thru 96? Are they different size shafts?

Early models were left hand rotation and later models are right handed rotation if I remember shaft diameter are same that is why they are listed for different years

what is the spline count on driven clutch?

Don’t recall , purchased and mechanics installed it

Will this fit a 2009 ezgo with kawasaki engine. Mine has a tapered shaft on differential?

nope. You should consider that model a 2010 even though its closer to 2009.5 you need clutch # 50465
