Cart Subtotal:
Next to the engine, this part is probably the most important in making any gas golf cart actually move. The Club Car DS - Precedent Gas Drive Clutch is the pulley that the belt goes around on the motor. It is a centrifugal unit that uses the engine's rotation to propel the cart by spinning a drive belt attached to the rear end. There are all kinds of moving parts internally, like weights and pins that can get thrown out of place, making it sound like a can of rattling BBs are lose under the seat.
What comes in the box? You get a clutch assembly, meaning we put it together for you to save you time and money. It's rated at 5000 RPM, and it includes a fixed sheave and starter generator pulley. This is a worthy note as you need a new belt when you use this clutch. Make sure you call Buggies Unlimited and get everything you need the first time when it comes to your golf cart parts.
remove belt and verify the primary clutch (engine side) moves smoothly by pushing it in, also verify with belt installed and running that both clutches are engaging at the same time..i.e primary clutch closes at the same time and same rate as the secondary clutch is opening. sounds like a sticking clutch issue
There’s a special tool made to pull the clutch you can make one by putting a bowl inside and then another threaded bolt to push on that pull it off or you can buy the tool that you used up that answers your question Enter an answer to this question.
This is an aftermarket not an oem.
There is a different direction the 290 engine turns when running.
Left hand. Use impact wrench with long extension. To remove clutch you must have special tool and some luck. Might need to use heat if clutch is on tapered shaft really tight. Good luck.
Hi JD, I believe we have a torque clutch, but not a speed clutch.
I am not sure I would ask the people at Buggies Unlimited they will know
Hi,
My recommendation is to loosen the belt tension.
Slide the motor close to the rear clutch 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.
Do you fund it hard to shift into gear? If so that's another reason to loosen belt tension.
