Can you smell that smell? No, not the song, the burning metal, melting rubber/ plastic smell. That would be your controller going bad. Once you have tracked down the odiferous scent and confirmed your worst fears, don't cry too much because we have a replacement that's going to last longer, stand up to the heat better, and outperform the OEM controller by leaps and bounds. The Club Car 500-Amp Curtis Controller will handle all of those extras you already installed, like the lift kit, bigger tires, and wheels, and give you a significant performance increase. Face it; you use it like it's a truck. Let's upgrade it to handle that type of workload.
This golf cart controller is compatible with all Club Car electric models that are series and have a 0-5k ohm throttle output. This is a 500 amp unit, so you will need a heavy-duty solenoid, cables, and forward and reverse switch to run this. Your stock motor will work for the time being but start saving your nickels and dimes.
I'm sure it would work as I ran a 400 amp controller with all stock parts before I upgraded to the 500(I did upgrade motor and wiring as well). I would absolutely recommend that you upgrade to a heavy duty forward /reverse switch when going to the 500 amp as I fried mine with the 400 amp with stock parts while pulling steep inclines. The stock switch can't handle the higher amps of the upgraded controller under heavy load. I hope this helps.
Yes it would work make sure it's program for your potentiometer in a little white box on the side of the controller they have to plug in the diagnostic tool which Mary's your controller 2 your potentiometer. A lot has to do with the horsepower of your electric motor I have an 11 horsepower on my golf cart it work fine if you want to take to the next level but you need a whole lot of electrical work
Mine was a 95 and this controller came with the speed kit I purchased. I had no issues with it after installion. IMO if my upgrade kit came with 500amp I would assume the factory is 325...
You probably could but I believe you would also need to upgrade your forward/reverse switch and solenoid to heavy duty ones along with your battery cables.
This controller will fit on a club car 48 volt 1996 to maybe the 2000 year model. Putting this controller & going with the juiced up electric el motor plus changing the wiring to #2 size will give you a speed you will love.
Ii been upgrading my club car golf carts for years to gjve me better performance & speed to get to where I want to go. Like anything when you aadd
