"I am the Keymaster. Are you the Gatekeeper?" This is not only a line from an old movie but a conversation that goes on between your EZGO Solenoid and the activation circuit every time you hit the pedal. The key master in this situation is the activation circuit. It unlocks the gate between the battery and the starter motor on your golf caddie. That gate is also referred to as the solenoid. The solenoid acts as a switch, a very heavy-duty switch albeit but a simple relay nonetheless. Once you turn it on, it allows power to get to the destination, which starts the buggy. Much like when you turn a switch on the wall, and a light comes on.
This 14 volt, four terminal, silver-contacted golf cart solenoid with a plastic housing will bolt right on in place of the old one and hooks up the exact same way. It replaces OEM numbers 27153-G01 if you are trying to match it to a book. Please give us a call here at buggies Unlimited, and we would be happy to help.
There is a strong possibility that a new solenoid will fix your problem. Try jumping the solenoid to see if the starter generator engages.
You need a service manual for your golf cart. It will have wiring diagrams in it.
Hi Jeremy, This Solenoid fit my 95 with no issues.
I installed the solenoid pictured, 14 volt, in my 98 ezgo cart. It has worked perfectly for couple of years.
Please give our tech support team a call at 1-888-444-9994. They can help with diagnosing you problem.
This solenoid is for cranking. If yours cranks then I would look elsewhere in the running system.
This is continuous duty.
Hello... I used this one on my 1997 E Z Go, haven't had any problems for almost 2 years now.
After reading Robert’s answer, I think that sounds like a good solution. Or rebuild the new solenoid onto a bracket that will fit.

Assuming the starter/generator is turning the engine over, it could be the solenoid. Might be stuck open or corroded and not completing the ignition circuit. You could test this by jumpering the 2 big terminals and try starting the engine (step on the throttle). If it does start, it will not quit until you remove the jumper.
