Cart Subtotal:
The Yamaha Ignitor with Snap-In Plug is a vital part of the ignition system. There are three parts total. This unit is responsible for timing the spark. It does this with the help of the pulsar coil that is on the flywheel. This assembly sends a signal to the ignitor every time the flywheel makes a full rotation. When that happens, the ignitor collapses the spark created by the third part of the system, known as the coil. If any of these three items malfunctions, the entire system fails. If you are having issues with one of these items, chances are the others will be right behind it. They all evenly wear because of the nature of the item. Typically the coil goes out first if that is helpful.
This golf cart ignitor is a five-pin. There is a G9 out there that uses a six-pin, so make sure you check before ordering. There is nothing worse than getting the Yamaha part you think you need, and it won't plugin. Call an expert at Buggies Unlimited for assistance.
Lisa 5152 is the correct igniter for your g9
Yes I had to replace both the ignighter & the coil
No
If you’re cart has the original motor it will most likely be a 2 stroke and this igniter is for a 4 stroke engine.
it sounds like something in the ignition circuit for sure. Just to be sure, you want to verify things like the battery voltage under a load and the ability of the starter generator to recharge the battery. If either of these things are wear, it will affect the condition of the spark. Typically if the spark is weak, its a sign of the ignition coil going bad. If you get a good hot spark but it is inconsistent or you only get one quick spark, it points more toward an igniter. There are several other things to take into account though. Like the condition of the grounds on the battery and the starter and the fuel supply components.
It may help. I had symptoms different than yours. Mine paused when I stepped on the gas pedal and also stalled, as if the engine was flooded, when I would stop to hit a shot, putt on on the green, etc if I didn’t step on the brake and lock it into park. If I didn’t “park it“ when I put my foot on the pedal it would sputter and sputter until someone pushed me. Changing into a new igniter solved that problem. Very easy to change yourself.
Probably but change the coil before you buy the expensive igniter- I bought one and my coil was bad even though I had tested it
It's been a while since I've done this job, so I can't say off the top of my head. If it looks the same, and the plug is correct, it most likely is good.
If they have the same number of pins inside the plug yes, but make sure that part matches. Some have as few as 4 others up to 7 pins. So make sure the actual plug matches.
I put the G9 in a 1994 Yamaha. Installed it myself. Very easy. Solved the problem I had.
Yes, I purchased this product last year. My buggie would not run and this was definitely the issue
