Product Details

Recharging a battery may sound like a simple job, but on your golf cart, several parts play a role in accomplishing that task. First off, the battery is responsible for starting the carriage and running everything that uses electricity. As you can imagine, the charge is going to drop pretty quickly. This is not like your older trucks that can start up and then have the battery removed and keep running. If that happens, you have a severe grounding issue, and you should call one of our tech support reps. The starter puts out almost 20 volts. That is too much for your battery. This is where the Voltage Regulator for Yamahas comes into play. It drops the voltage down to a useable 13-15 volts.

This golf cart regulator is easy to install. This model is held down by one screw and has one plug that just pops right in place. This will take you more time to unwrap that to install. Give Buggies Unlimited a call and get it coming.

voltage regulator
After years of replacing starter/generators, the good folks at Buggy's felt like the problem may be the voltage regulator. I had replaced the regulator several years ago but apparently installed one that was putting too much voltage to the system. After advice from Buggy's, installed the new one (took about 5 minutes) and system is now charging at lower voltage as it should. Thanks, Buggy's, for the advice and the quick service in sending the new one!

Plug and play! Works as intended!
Had tried 2 cheap ones off Amazon and they didn't work from day one.. Plugged this one in and worked exactly like it should. Played 36 holes first day with it and it kept the battery up. Learned my lesson, buy one from a reliable source the first time.

Wrong part.. AGAIN
This is the second Voltage Regulator I got and it isn't the right one. Still waiting for the correct one. It's been over a month now since I placed my first order. Not very happy at the moment. Still hoping the next one will fit my golf cart

Good product
With all of the knockoffs on the market, I needed a part that I could trust. I went to Buggies Unlimited, and got a good price on a good part. Thanks

my cart will not turn over , if I jump the solenoid it will start any ideas?

I found with my cart that it required a new solenoid but my cart needed one that was a g50 solved problem

Where is the votage regulator on a G23EzZ Yamaha golf cart?
i have a 2007 gas G-16 cart, i replaced the fuel pump and confirmed that its getting fuel now, cleaned the carb, and found no residue in the carb at all, it now turns over but will not start and run,it will run briefly with a small amount of starting fluid.any ideas of an electrical component that could be causing this?

Doubt it’s an electrical issue if it starts...carb could still be issue. Would check all gaskets and fuel lines plus look for possible damage to carb; could be cracked seal . If fuel getting to carb, check to see if its filling bowl.

what should the charging rate be on these carts? mine is 18.3. seems high to me and cart dies after it gets hot. could it be over charging and causing the ignition system to fail? thanks for any help with this

I thought the same thing with mine on the charging?
So I replaced the voltage regulator & it didn’t make any
Difference. But I don’t think mine was that high of voltage? It was I think in the 15-16v range.
Maybe make sure your grounds are good?
I left the system alone at it’s higher than normal charging & so far everything is working - the faster the engine spins, the higher the voltage went.
Hot engine with hot carberator can cause issues with fuel flow?

Wiring diagram for voltage regulator ?

There is a plug in fitting. If you need help wiring it then call 888.444.9994 and speak to our technical support team at extension # 3. They are here M-F from 8-5 EST

I have a G9A Golf Car, sn:JG5-302503. The sn: indicates a 1994 model. The voltage regulator on the car has 6 plug contacts, the regulator in the picture (item # 5422) seems to show only 4. Is this the right regulator?

Where can get the right one

My starter and solenoid have never been replaced.

Check to make sure you have spark at the spark plug. If it will only run on starting fluid then the electrical system should be working. It seems the carb is not providing fuel to run on. Maybe a complete disassembly and carb kit is in order. You're better off just replacing the carb if you can't find a rebuild kit.

I have a 91 G9.  It stopped running so we pushed it to the garage.  Now it's blowing the 10A fuse when we press the pedal.   Doesn't blow when we disconnect the brown wire from the VR.  We checked for shorts.  Any suggestions?
