Club Car has had quite the evolution of throttle switches over the years. The Club Car DS V-Glide Switch Case Assembly is a part of one of those numerous systems. This setup uses a v-shaped box that has stationary copper contacts mounted in an arc. A rod with what is known as a movable contact sweeps over the stationary ones as you depress the accelerator pedal.
Depending on the setup, you may have several heavy cables running to a bank of resistor coils, which could be much more straightforward. Two wires that transfer the signal put off and communicate the throttle's position to the controller. Several inline diodes would need to be installed on the back of this item to use it in that fashion on your caddie, but it is quickly done with a kit from us. Why not pick up the phone and get an expert from Buggies Unlimited on the line that can tell you if your golf cart V-glide switch case replacement.
The cover is removeable the contacts can be cleaned. If there is bad pitting on wiper contact or others in the arc they may need to be replaced. After cleaning put a thin layer of grease to keep them from oxidizing. I would look at the solenoids and circular elements connections. These play a role in smooth shifting. Mine had a broken element right where it terminated. Use caution these elements can get red hot. Hope this helps
If you have a cover on your potentiometer, remove it and look at the copper lugs. Make sure as you press the throttle that the pivoting arm makes good contact with the copper lugs throughout its range. If not, replace the potentiometer and the arm. The contacts eventually wear to the point that good contact can't be made. Not a hard fix.
The V- glide does have 2 extra posts for extra resistor coils for higher amperage using a 48 volt system.
May not be able to help you my unit cracked and jammed leaving it on all the time. A bad brush in the unit may have caused your problem. If the batteries have been changed check the wiring it is convoluted and complicated and the wiring diagrams are impossible to read. Don't know if that will help or not good luck.
I would check for correct wiring of the v-glide switch. The switch has 8 contacts for the wiper to make contact with. the bottom two must not be connected to the resister wires. Only connect the top six as follows.
Connect the black wire to the very top contact, connect the blue wire to the next one down, connect the green wire to next one down, connect the yellow wire to the next one, connect the orange next and the white one last. leave the two bottom contacts open. This assumes that the resister bank is wired correctly. looking at the resister bank from the drivers side. the wires must be as follows. starting from the drivers side, white,
orange, yellow, green, blue and black. There are excellent wiring diagrams available on the internet, Hope this helps John
Not sure, but I think so.
Resistor cars are simple. If a switch has more contacts than resistor taps, just tie a few adjacent contacts together; so there are no dead spots as the accelerator pedal is pressed.
I didnt find it hard at all. I recommend already having your old one out and inspected so you can also replace any other worn out components. Make sure you have a wiring diagram so you put all the wires back correctly and also be sure to adjust the throttle control rod after install.
BOUGHT THIS PART IN 2019 INSTALLED IN CLUB CAR 1993 36V WORKS JUST FINE. AGREE WITH LYLE C. REPLY. I BURNED OUT THE SWITCH CONTACTS TRYING TO PULL A LAWN AERATOR. HAVEN'T REPEATED THAT BLUNDER AND THE CART WORKS JUST FINE IF YOU HAVE A PLATE ATTACHED BEHIND THE COIL (ON THE CAR FRAME) THAT HAS COILED LIKE WIRES IT SHOULD WORK. SUGGEST YOU FIND THE SERVICE MANUAL (ON LINE) THE ONE I FOUND HAD VERY WELL EXPLAINED PICTURES ABOUT HOW TO DO THIS.
The wiring diagram from club car shows the cart has a potentiometer and a controller installed. The V-Glide switch is used with a cart with a resister bank installed. Based on the wiring diagram the V-Glide switch is not used in the 48 volt Precedent Golf Cart.
It will, as long as it is a V drive system.
