The Yamaha Drive Belt for select G models is the item that gets the power from the engine back to the rear wheels. Without it, you would have a deafening noise machine that did not roll anywhere. There is a primary or drive clutch that is attached to the engine. As the engine RPM increases, the clutch gets skinner and skinner thanks to centrifugal force. As that happens, the golf cart drive belt gets tighter and tighter around the rear clutch attached to your rear gearbox. When that happens, the rear clutch turns the gears in the differential, and they put the power to the wheels.
This drive belt measures approximately 1-3/16-inch by 39-inches and will for the Yamaha models G2, G8, G9, G11, G14, G16, G20, G21, and G22. That is as long as they are 4-cycle gas models, which is why it will not work for the Yamaha G3 model because it is just a 2-cycle G1 with a few bells and whistles. The one I bought was for a 1988 cart so I couldnt give a correct answer on that one. Sorry. It did fit my 1988 cart though.
Hi Jin.
I had difficulty answering the same question. So I called Buggies Unlimited and spoke with the people in their technical/parts department. They are most knowledgeable about older as well as newer models. By taking measurements and asking many questions, they were able to determine the model that I have. I believe I even sent them photos of my cart.
I hope this helps.
lift up the seat and look on the frame where the back of the seat rested and there you will find the serial number and the model.
I cannot answer as the engines in both our carts are original and have been rebuilt. The belts from Buggies Unlimited fit ours
here you go my friend
If you don't have the OEM part # give them your serial number & Buggies will gladly look up the proper belt number & $ for you. They are good people to deal with. Jeff
This will work great or the 1339 premium belt as well. If your current belt is stretched out to 41" then this will more than likely fix the issue. You may also want to take a look at the spring tension of the rear clutch. As far as removing them is concerned, I pull the belt up on the side of the clutch and then turn the clutch with the belt pulled up on it and it will turn the belt off.
I have a G 16 YGC. It fits perfect if it says it will fit your G2 YGC I believe you will be happy. BU offers great products. If they say it fits lit fits. I'm happy with my purchase. Great company.
