The E-Z-GO Fuel Pump on most golf carts is a tank mount or a free-floating unit depending on who worked on it last. The thing about golf cart fuel pumps is minus a few buggies, you can use any fuel pump on any cart as long as you can get it mounted. That is not the case, unfortunately, for the 82 through 88 EZGO Marathon. These carts use an engine-mounted assembly. This means that there is a port on the crankcase that the unit mounts directly to. Because the component uses the in-out pressure created by the crankcase, using anything else is out of the question.
The EZGO fuel pump on your cabbie helps the carb draw the fuel from the tank. When your golf cart is at full throttle, the carb does not even need the help of the pump, but at slower speeds, if it were not for this thing, the golf cart would not be able to run at all. It could be several things. Check and make sure that the line and pickup tube in the tank are clear by blowing through them. Then check for any leaks at any fittings or connections to make sure that it isn't sucking air. I'd replace the filter with a see through variety so that you can see if fuel is actually moving. Then I'd disconnect the fuel line at the carb to see if the fuel is getting to the carburator. If it is, I would suspect that your needle valve is stuck closed, or that you have some other obstruction in it. Another problem with these 2 cycle Robin engines are worn crankshaft seals, or cylinders. The crankcase has to be airtight (seals) and compression high enought (above 95lbs) for the fuel pump to pulse and pump fuel. Hopeully it is something simple, not an engine requiring seal replacement or a rebuild. Good luck!
There is two possibilities
1 if the gas tank cop has plug the air breather hole. The gas will start going up u till coming out from the carburetor (repleacedgascap)
2 if the carb. Float is not closing the needle the gas the gas is coming out the carburetor
3 this one some times happen too
When the fuel pump. Has a damage plastic seal the gas goes straight to the engine and fill up the crankcase with gas.
A lot of good answers already on this one, please take a look at them all, but here's my 2 cents. When I am having what I believe to be a fuel supply problem, three things to run down come to mind. Fuel supply (duh) fire or spark and compression. Any of these things can make it look like the fuel supply is lacking. Your compression should be about 150 PSI on a 4 cycle golf cart and about 120 on a 2 cycle. Check the condition of the spark, make sure its blue or white and consistent. Then remove the fuel line that runs from fuel pump to the carb at the carb and see if the fuel pump pulses fuel as the engine turns over.
They’re all 2 cycle. That’s the reason for the oil tank. Notice you don’t change the oil or have a dip stick.
Hi Dwaine, that number tells me you have a 1982 G1 Yamaha.
I think you could, but it would have to be a low pressure pump like 10 psi max block the old one off
IT DID NOT COME WITH A GASKET BUT WITH AN O'RING ON THE BOTTOM
I believe it did not come with the gasket but I am not 100% sure. Hope this helps
