Product Details

The electric golf cart motor spins at, give or take, 3,000 revolutions per minute. It may be a little more or less, depending on the one you have in the cart; either way, that is a lot of wear on the internal components. The motor is compromised of several parts, the first being the armature. That is the thing that spins in the middle. It is mounted on a bearing hidden in the case that surrounds everything and contains the fields. The terminals are mounted in that case and have a GE Motor Brush Set connected to them via a cable. Why are they called brushes? They are solid as a rock without a single bristle. Well, they are designed to rub or "brush" directly against the armature to transfer power. You can see why they wear out so fast.

If you have not done this kind of work before, you may want to consider ordering the parts from Buggies Unlimited and taking your cart to a shop to do the work. Switching the golf cart brushes is no problem. Getting the motor on and off the caddie is a big job. Make sure if you are going to do this yourself, you have help.
