The forward and reverse for two-cycle EZGOs and all other series golf carts are a manually actuated lever, meaning you need to crank it from left to right to shift. What is actually happening under the seat is the switch is changing the terminal of the motor that it supplies the positive or negative to, reversing the polarity and making it spin in the opposite direction. This is achieved with heavy-duty copper contacts on the switch itself, like the E-Z-GO 2-Cycle F & R Copper Stud.Over time these will wear down with the regular operation of shifting. There is no avoiding it. When it happens, you can get it fixed by replacing the contacts themselves. That is, of course, if the housing that they mount into was not started to melt and change the angle at which the contacts would meet one another. If that is the case, you are going to need a whole new switch. Buggies Unlimited has you covered either way; give us a call quickly!
